Systems Technician (Ref: SD12/15)
As a result of continued growth and to meet present and future client engagements, Megabyte is seeking to engage the services of a Systems Technician to join the Engineering and Infrastructure team. This team is responsible for planning, design, implementation and support of corporate networks and IT systems at our enterprise customers.
This post requires workshop and on-site repair of equipment, implementation and support of corporate networks based on UNIX, Windows and Open Source platforms. This individual will also participate in the planning and implementation of system monitoring, maintenance and support of all networked software and operating systems. Responsibilities include:
• Carrying out of systems analysis, design testing, programming,
• Implementation, review, repair and maintenance of computer systems, computer
hardware and communications equipment,
• Preventive or remedial maintenance of equipment on-site or at the company’s workshop,
• Cleaning of equipment, computers and communications devices,
• Promotion of the employer’s products and services in both the public and private sectors,
• Support of clients,
• Training of clients and staff.
Applicants must possess good technical knowledge of current hardware and standards. Preference will be given to candidates with field experience as well as full proficiency in implementing and supporting multi-vendor systems.
This post requires strong customer service orientation, proven analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Working as part of a team, applicants must be team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment.
