Overview

The Cisco MDS 9513 Director Switch delivers industry-leading scalability, up to 528-ports, and performance, with 2.4 Terabits per second internal system bandwidth. It boasts a very high port density in the 13 slot, 14U chassis with high availability features to lower TCO and enable SAN infrastructure consolidation. HP delivers the Cisco MDS 9513 Director Switch with dual supervisor 2 modules, dual fabric modules, redundant fans, clocks, power supplies and non-disruptive upgrades to ensure smooth, continuous operation. The dual fabric modules are a new innovation which make even the backplane of the MDS 9513 is both redundant and hot-swappable, thereby taking fabric availability to a different plane. The eleven open expansion slots can be filled by optional MDS 9000 Family Modules, including earlier generation 16 and 32 port 2 Gb Fibre Channel modules along with the new generation 12, 24 and 48-port, 4 Gb Fibre Channel and 4-port, 10 Gb Fibre Channel Modules.

Features

  • Value: Manageable - provides embedded Fabric Manager, Optional Cisco Fabric Manager Server and integration with HP StorageWorks Management Essentials and CiscoWorks RME; Serviceable - delivers embedded diagnostics (Fibre Channel ping, traceroute and protocol analyser) and “Call Home”; Upgradeable - offers investment protection with multiple module options, all interchangeable across MDS 9000 line.
  • Agility: High availability - provides non-disruptive software upgrades, stateful process failover and hot swappable components; Secure - supports VSANs, hardware-enforced zoning, role-based access control, IPsec and access control lists.
  • Simplicity: Multi-protocol - integrates Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and FCIP in one system, no separate boxes to manage; Flexible -introduces Virtual SANs (VSANs) and Inter-VSAN routing for consolidation of isolated SAN islands on a single physical fabric; Scalable - offers12 to 528 Fibre Channel ports; supports throughput up to 160 Gb in a single Port Channel ISL High performance: supplies 2.4 Terabits of total internal bandwidth for integrated 4 Gb and 10 Gb Fibre Channel switching; Open - provides open platform for hosting third party storage applications, such as virtualization; Interoperable - offers compatibility with a broad range of HP servers, as well as disk and tape storage devices.
