The Suncrest Hotel
has just re-opened
its doors this week
to give a warm
welcome to its new
residents after an
eleven week
refurbishment
programme. This
project involved a
major overhaul of
its entire technical
plant ranging from
its air conditioning
system, piping
infrastructure,
guest bathrooms
make-over, brand new
catering equipment
and lift
refurbishment. To
complete this
refurbishment the
Suncrest management
also decided to
upgrade the Hotel’s
entire IT
infrastructure to
cater for wireless
roaming access as
well as an upgrade
to their core IT
hardware and their
current Fidelio
front office system
to the new Micros
OPERA Xpress
Property Management
System including the
latest Opera
Materials Control
food and beverage
control system.
AX Holdings Group,
also chose to
standardise the
technology
throughout its
properties with the
MICROS OPERA
Enterprise
Solution. The
solution encompasses
OPERA Property
Management, OPERA
Sales & Catering,
OPERA Materials
Control and Micros
POS system. In the
upcoming properties
AX Holdings plans to
operate on a
multi-property
platform, with a
common, centrally
hosted database.
Opera multi-property
provides them with
the opportunity to
capitalise on the
benefits of truly
centrally hosted,
multi-property
solution, allowing
them to know more
about their guests
and business than
ever before. Not
only will this save
them money on
hardware and
maintenance costs
through system
consolidation, but
also enable them to
manage their shared
resources and
facilities
efficiently and
optimise their
operation of both
establishments.
In order for
Suncrest to realise
their vision, the
owners once again
entrusted Megabyte
as the prime
contractor for the
design and
integration of their
Hotel’s complex IT
core facilities and
engaged them for the
deployment of a
fully fledged Hotel
Management Solution.
Thanks to Megabyte’s
expertise
accumulated over
several system
deployments of this
nature, the entire
project was
successfully
completed by the
local team from the
Megabyte Hospitality
Business Unit under
the Project
Management of Mark
Ciantar, who within
the stipulated
timeframe, and
notwithstanding the
considerable tight
timeframe allocated
before their
re-opening, migrated
all historical
records since 1995
onto the new Opera
Xpress version.
As a result of the
tremendous growth AX
holdings group has
enjoyed in the last
few years, the
technological
requirements of its
properties have
significantly
expanded.
Implementing a
multi-property
system environment
will bring numerous
advantages to its
new properties which
are in some cases
resting back to back
with each other.
With centralised
guest history, and
agents able to book
reservations across
both properties,
Victoria Hotel and
the new Palace Hotel
intend to perfect
their guest
experience.
