Megabyte
was
commissioned
by
the
Water
Services
Corp.
to
provide
a
complete
hardware
and
software
platform
on
which
to
develop
its
billing
system.
A
complete
Oracle
software
development
environment
was
installed
at
the
corporation.
This
included
the
latest
Oracle
7
database
and
front
end
client
server
tools.
Megabyte
has
provided
training
and
consultancy
services
to
assist
the
corporation
in
the
development
of
the
billing
application.
Together
with
the
installation
of
two
Digital
Equipment
Corp.
Alpha
servers,
this
also
involved
upgrading
the
infrastructure
at
the
Luqa
Head
Office.
For
this
reason,
Megabyte
installed
a
200
point
network
in
the
two
main
blocks,
which
are
interlinked
on a
fibre
optic
backbone.
The
project
was
completed
successfully,
despite
the
difficulties
involved
when
working
with
all
the
Corporation's
staff
already
settled
down
in
their
offices.
Recently,
the
Corporation
has
implemented
its
Wide
Area
Network,
adding
several
important
branch
offices
to
its
corporate
network,
allowing
important
information
resources
located
at
the
central
head
office
to
be
shared
by
its
remote
users.
The
Corporation
has
also
purchased
an
additional
Alpha
server
to
provide
the
corporate
users
with
office
and
mail
services
