We are currently in search of ambitious and committed individuals with a keen eye for detail who take pride in delivering excellence, to join our passionate and dynamic team as an Infrastructure Team Lead.

Role Description

The Infrastructure Team Lead will be responsible for assisting in managing the Infrastructure and Support team as well as leading the infrastructure projects from initiation to completion.

The focus of the role will be on overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Infrastructure Team, being the primary escalation point for team members. This will include monitoring and assigning tasks, support calls or projects to the resources available.

Together with the General Manager for Infrastructure and Support Services, the Team Lead will be responsible for keeping up with the latest technology advancements, updating the team and assigning the required training to the various team members.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate for the role will be expected to:

    • Assist in the organising, allocation and monitoring of the infrastructure team
    • Assist in ensuring incident and problem queues are kept constantly updated and monitored whilst always prioritising communication with the customer
    • Assist in ensuring that the team follows company policies, best practices and procedures during their daily tasks
    • Assist in team meetings to update members on daily assignments, projects status and ongoing incidents
    • Provide regular updates to the General Manager for Infrastructure and Support Services
    • Assist with the mentoring, coaching and assisting of members of the Infrastructure Team
    • Assist in the management of relationships with third parties and suppliers mainly HPE. This includes maintaining current partnership levels and identifying any potential improvements
    • Assist in project management and liaising with customers and all resources
    • Manage physical server and storage infrastructure to ensure all systems function as required and meet the targeted Service Level Agreements
    • Ensure internal and external applications and associated infrastructure are functioning correctly, by undertaking proactive monitoring and analysis, resolving problems and escalating as appropriate
    • Participate in the design and architecture of information and operational support systems
    • Identify learning gaps in the team structure and propose any training required.

Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Senior Systems Engineer / Team Lead in the IT industry, preferably in the field of managed services
  • Experience in server and storage technologies
  • Knowledge in virtualization, cloud, storage and networking technologies and be capable of building enterprise architecture roadmaps
  • Sound knowledge of multiple operating systems including Microsoft, Linux and Unix
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently with minimum supervision, and as part of a team
  • Strong leadership skills and team management skills
  • Able to perform well under pressure
  • Pro-active, flexible, committed and hardworking by nature
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Possession of a valid driving license

  • Microsoft Certifications mainly MCSE/MCSA and Azure

  • Linux Certifications mainly Redhat or Oracle Linux
  • Cisco Certifications mainly CCNA
  • Experience using Aruba networking products
  • Experience with Database Management Systems including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Project management certification
